Costa Rica Day 19

hola hola

fresh off a shower and it feels so good. yoda of course keeping me company here in the room! (and walking back and forth across the keyboard a couple times already before i pulled up a new draft note. reminds me of a kitty we once had <3

sunset was no frills but always good to see it go down - and alex and michael, the couple from toronto, who i became friends with on our friday rio celeste daytrip - spotted me sitting on my towel on the beach before sunset and came over to say hey. (also welcome to following along!! ). i asked what they've been up to and sadly they had some not-so-great things to share about a turtle experience they'd booked thru their hotel. and by that i mean, what was proposed to be something along the lines of conservation and getting to respectfully watch the turtle(s) laying eggs and such turned out to be much more invasive of the turtles and essentially what you're not supposed to do - interfering with them. before i could suggest it, they said they'd relayed this feedback back to their hotel (who the tour was booked thru) and the hotel essentially reported it to the ministry (? i believe alex said) and they are going to send someone in undercover to investigate. drama! but ending on a positive note that they did their part in reporting it to the appropriate channels and they can take it from there. they leave Tamarindo for back home saturday and said if i ever want to come to Canada, i'm welcome to stay! (back at you by the way, my apartment just may be a teensie tiny for you )

i want to head out to the "night market" here shortly (happens every thursday eve) and grabbing dinner after that, so, here's a bit about today-

Had a leftover challah bread (from breaking bread bfast yesterday) that i paired with an avocado for breakfast this am. Scott, my new neighbor on my right (new neighbor after Hannah - who lives in England - and her friend left) was cooking up breakfast in the kitchen when i went in to cut my avocado up. we chatted and i ended up just sitting to eat my breakfast there while we talked. he knew i was headed surfing for a 12p lesson and asked what i was up to now (until then) and asked if i wanted to do a short hike that he was about to do. background on scott- he's american, lives in chicago, but leaves for florida in the winter months (naples) but it's his second year coming down here to costa. and second time here at villas macondo.

so i join the hike as he says it's ~20 mins (aka i have time before i need to go to my lesson) and not hard, and i want to see the views from the top of tamarindo! worth it!!! even tho my stomach started to hurt a tiny bit almost near the top. check the viewwwssss below~~

in short, surfing is rescheduled to tomorrow and it ended up being a wonderful change of the day's events as i got to see my nashville SQUAD from yesterday who were up at the Best Western pool. background- when i got to Salty Sols, checked in with eric and he said he's waiting to hear back from ashwin about whether his and sarah's snorkeling ends at 12p or that they'll be back in Tamarindo for 12p. aka, we have some time to kill while we wait to hear back from them. and eric's gonna go check out what the waves look like real quick on his bike, too. i have no qualms about any of this and tell him 'you do you' and he sends me on up to the pool to hang out while we sit tight to hear what the worddd is from the others. well what a treat!!! i get up there and it's this gorgeous pool looking out on more views of good ol Tamarindo bay (not sure it's even called that but i am calling it that now). i am getting double dose of views today!! truly so gorgeous. you can see waves wayyyyy out in the ocean that are breaking (the white) and it's just cool to see tamarindo from another point of view. and you've got a breeze up there and the pool feels amazing. King of the Hill (Sami, from yesterday's, grandpa), Robby (Sami's dad) and Sami are all up there - guys in the pool and Sami sitting on the ledge - and we're all saying excited what's up's to each other as this is another fun little surprise seeing them. they're staying there and King of the Hill tells me this is the most 'crowded' the pool has been (there were very few people there).
