My name is Kaela.
I'm a New Englander who can typically be found on the Cape in a little slice of heaven that is Brewster, Massachusetts. I recently discovered the magic of Costa Rica ~ head on over to the Journal or Costa Rica gallery to read how that started // see more. I see myself spending my life between there & my home in the US.... *manifesting*
Why 'marisol'?
~ 'mar' is spanish for 'sea'
~ 'sol' is spanish for 'sun'
~ pronounce the 'i' as if it is an 'y' in spanish ~ meaning 'and' ~ and you have... marisol
I am my most grounded self when near the sea and the sun, hence marisol.
Marisol is both a play on words and a beautiful name. Both of my grandmothers are named Mary, so this is an ode to these special women in my life, too.
My wish for this project is to remind people of the beauty of nature and to treat our planet with the respect and appreciation she deserves. If this inspires you to take action, amazing! I hope that it can at least prompt internal dialogue about the daily choices you make ~ you are fundamentally a visitor on this earth, not just the consumer you are being marketed to as. Remember that and exercise your power of choice. What small actions can you take to change your lifestyle in a way that is beneficial {or less harmful} to mother earth?
I genuinely want to infuse more *joy* into my life, too. Looking at these photos makes me feel joy. This platform is something I dreamed of creating ever since falling in love with the art of visual storytelling while studying abroad ~~ digital camera in hand. Fifteen years later, I am sharing some of my life's imagery with you all. If this spreads joy to anyone else, it's just a bonus.
