Monos Parts One & Deux

Writing this from my phone in the hammock bc I opened the laptop and it’s dead and I don’t feel like getting back up. Too comfy!

 

Chill day and loving it. Alarm off at 6:30a and out headed to the beach by 7a. It’s lovely here in the morning - quiet, barely anybody out on the streets yet and businesses aren’t opened yet- aside from breakfast spots. The beach is gorg!! Folks out for walks and jogs but not nearly as many people as during the day! 

 

Approaching Pico Bistro from the beach I hear the howl of a monkey from the tree top right in front of the restaurant. Yup, there’s a bunch of them! The one stops howling as they’re all having a green leaf breakfast. So cool. One has a baby on its back! There’s a little toddler looking one that must be climbing on its own as it doesn’t look as smoothly moving thru the tree tops. This tree is great for viewing them from as the leaves are teenie teenie tiny and so it’s great visibility. The toddler is even right above me at one point and those teenie leaves are falling down on my face! 

 

okay popped inside to finish this as the internet went off from my phone outside and on the laptop now for speed. the title of today's entry is parts one and deux because friday morning was my first encounter with the monkeys. and ass crack of dawn early! woke up at 5am to them howling away off in the distance. i told kristen this on the phone yesterday but it's truly an awful sound  and reminiscent of in the Hunger Games movie when the players who have passed get recreated as these terrifying dogs -- that's the sound it makes. it was only scary when it was 5am and still dark out and i'd never heard them before - they do sound like dogs! then it was cool because they were just chillin in the treetops next to the pool within Villas Macondo - our own front yards. i'd share a few digicam shots i took friday but unfortunately mi camarera is not turning on  oh well. it's better to experience it live and be in the moment anyways.
